Staff explained the prime engineering firm will subcontract structural work to Southeastern Consulting to reduce overall costs; staff said the restroom project will require building permits but likely not a stormwater permit because the structure will be under 4,000 square feet.
The commission also adopted Resolution 2026-05 to support applying for a grant to evaluate and improve the boat-ramp basin. City manager Jim Anderson told the board the work would assess options to remove silt and restore user access for boaters.
Public Works was authorized to buy a tractor through state contract at a price staff cited as $48,938.54, below the $60,000 budget line; the motion passed unanimously.
Staff briefed the commission on the government complex finishing work and noted the need to seek financing (RFQ/RFP from banks) once final architectural plans are set. Commissioners discussed staging decisions such as exterior finishes and color selection before seeking final prices.
What’s next: staff will proceed with the contractor task order, make required permit filings for the Core Park restroom and coordinate follow-up on the grant application and government complex financing.
