District gives master facilities update, cites plumbing and storm-sewer work; occupancy dates set

District facilities staff gave a detailed master facilities update, reporting continued construction work at Mills Lawn and the middle/high school and describing recent issues identified by a campus camera inspection.

Facilities staff said crews resolved a plumbing problem under sinks and identified a storm-sewer/drainage line with progressively smaller pipe diameters on the property (described in the update as a sequence from 24 inches down to 6 inches). The team said it will proceed with repairs to 'fix in place' while continuing diagnostic work to determine whether additional problems remain.

Work on phases one and two is in punch-list stage; phase three continues with storefront/window replacements and replacement of uninsulated tan panels with insulated colored panels to match the high school. The update noted ramps added adjacent to the media center, environmental graphics planning, gym floor sealing and plaque work.

Officials addressed a community complaint about new exterior lights that are temporarily on 24/7; they said the village manager reviewed and approved the lighting and that district staff will work to reduce brightness and adjust timing once the electrical tie-ins are complete.

The facilities report included schedule commitments for building use: the gym is expected to be available May 19 for a graduation scheduled May 21, staff orientation/move-in is planned for Aug. 14, and the district stated the target for full occupancy is no later than Oct. 15 to allow moving preparations.

The update also announced a moratorium on planting memorial and other trees on school campuses due to repeated root damage to plumbing and concrete; the district said it will work with the tree committee to review future planting rules and memorial requests.

The board received the facilities update; no formal motion was required for the informational report.
