Raleigh County Schools announces school calendar; students to start Aug. 26

A staff member for Raleigh County Schools announced the district's school calendar, saying the West Virginia Department of Education approved the schedule and that students' first day next year will be Wednesday, Aug. 26. The district said 200‑day staff — described as teachers, bus operators, cooks and aides — will begin on Wednesday, Aug. 19.

The announcement recapped end‑of‑year dates for the current school year: students' last day will be June 9 and 200‑day staff will finish June 18. The speaker added that schools will hold end‑of‑year events, including award ceremonies and fifth‑grade graduations, during the week of June 1 through June 9.

Graduation dates included the Academy of Careers and Technology on May 27, Shady Spring High School on May 28, and Independence, Liberty and Woodrow Wilson high schools on May 29. The district said it will post the full calendar on its website in the near future.
