The Daily Gate City was designated as the city’s newspaper of general circulation for official notices to meet statutory publication requirements. Council also adopted a resolution authorizing access to the city's safety deposit box for the mayor and the city clerk and adopted a resolution designating Michael Greenwald to serve as mayor pro tem in the mayor’s absence.
On fleet management, staff proposed trading a 2020 Peterbilt rear‑pack garbage truck (which staff said has a bent arm and a pack rebuild estimate of about $50,000) for a 2016 Peterbilt with a new side‑load unit, producing a net refund of $45,000 to the sanitation fund. Staff said the trade will stagger vehicle replacement years and that the 2016 truck is easier to maneuver and causes less wear in alleys. Council approved the trade by voice vote; the net proceeds will remain in the sanitation fund for future equipment replacement.
These measures passed by voice vote with no recorded written objections; council also scheduled upcoming budget work sessions (a special meeting and two Saturday sessions) to review departmental budgets ahead of the formal budget hearing process.
