City planner Brian McCann told commissioners QuickTrip’s plan for a ~9,100-square-foot store, 10 fuel pumps and a single-lane car wash meets zoning standards for building materials, parking (63 spaces proposed vs. ~33 minimum required), drive aisles and lighting. The applicant sought only a conditional-use amendment for the dynamic display element of the planned signage; height and other dimensional sign limits remain unchanged in the proposal.
A QuickTrip representative said dynamic displays are commonly used to show gas prices and promotions and noted the developer’s construction timeline could bring the store to the community next year. Commissioners asked whether the sign height or visibility should be reconsidered; staff said the amendment is limited to the dynamic display portion and that height compliance had not changed from prior submittals.
A motion to recommend council approval passed unanimously.
