Board approves final phase of carpet replacements at Emporia High and Middle schools

For the high school staff reported a contract cost of $170,432.82; the middle school contract was $51,579.96. Staff also said roughly $88,000 of existing inventory will be used to reduce new material costs.
Administrators confirmed the project will be funded from the district’s capital outlay fund and characterized the work as the largest single capital-outlay project planned for the coming summer. Board members asked about the cooperative (OMNIA) and confirmation that the district previously used the same vendor. After discussion a motion to approve replacement of the remaining carpet at Emporia Middle School and Emporia High School carried by unanimous vote ('Motion passes 70').
No amendments or additional conditions were announced at the time of the vote; staff said they would coordinate scheduling to minimize disruption during the summer months.
