The Natchitoches Historic District Commission approved two separate roof replacement applications for downtown properties during its May meeting.
Agenda item 040601 (Bayou Roofing and Mechanical Services LLC) for the property at 108–112 Line was discussed twice after the applicant was initially not present. Staff clarified the application described a like‑for‑like membrane overlay replacement; Dr. Horton moved and Miss Robinson seconded a motion to approve replacement of the existing membrane roof with a new membrane. The commission approved and staff was asked to notify the applicant (Brandon) that work may proceed.
Separately, the commission considered a shingle roof replacement at 714 3rd Street (applicant referenced as Mr. Brunson). Commissioners confirmed the work would replace the existing roof with Atlas shingles and discussed whether the new roof matched the previous roof’s profile; Robinson moved and Ralph Wilson seconded to approve the roof replacement and the commission voted to allow the work to proceed.
Several photos and nearby building identities were discussed to clarify the project context. For the Bayou Roofing item, commissioners noted the owner was not present at first and that staff would contact the contractor after approval. The commission adjourned at the end of the meeting.
