Board members discussed whether other sports would receive similar support and whether the district would extend the same offer to Sweetwater High School if it remains part of Monroe County. Mr. Williams later reiterated, “If Sweetwater still ours, I have no problem giving it 7,500.”
A roll-call vote recorded the following: Mitch Avery — yes; Richard Bettis — no; Joe Cable — no vote recorded on the roll call; Sharon Freeman — yes; Mark Ingram — yes; Kelly — yes; John Regel — yes; Sheman — yes; Dean — yes. The chair declared the motion carried.
Votes at a glance: the board also approved the consent and regular agenda as amended, adopted budget amendments, approved the March 12, 2026 meeting minutes, and adopted a set of policy changes on second reading. Those routine items were carried by voice vote earlier in the meeting.
The board recognized the Sequoia (Chiefs) football booster club as a school support organization after Dr. Windsor confirmed the group's binder and required documentation were in order; that recognition was approved by voice vote.
