The Natchitoches Historic District Commission on its May meeting approved a hanging storefront sign for Puerto Rican restaurant Puerto Rico on the Bayou LLC at 105A Church Street.
Applicant Tanya Borham, who said she and business partner Mr. Bermudez will operate the restaurant, told commissioners the sign will be produced by Platinum Signs and that its dimensions fit within the permitted square footage. “We are definitely excited to bring authentic Puerto Rican foods to Natchitoches, Louisiana,” Borham said at the podium.
Commission members confirmed the sign will hang from the existing chains and fit the commission’s size limits. Commissioner Horton moved to approve the application; Commissioner Ralph Wilson seconded and the commission voted to approve. The chair instructed staff to let Platinum Signs proceed with fabrication and to notify the applicant.
The approval authorizes only the sign design and size presented to the commission. Any future changes to wording, placement or materials would require administrative review or a return to the commission. The commission’s next regular meeting was set for Monday, May 4.
