The Bell Gardens City Council approved a consent calendar of routine items Dec. 8 that included administrative and public-works contracts, and payments tied to the former successor agency.
City Manager O'Kelly highlighted several items on the consent calendar: procurement and installation of a new financial management system; payments for obligations related to the former successor agency; an extension of the water system maintenance agreement; a medical taxi service agreement; a city-funded crossing guard services agreement; and contracts for two infrastructure projects.
The largest project noted was an improvement at Garfield and Eastern, described in staff remarks as an approximately $3.0 million project with a construction phase of about $2.1 million and funded entirely by grants (no general fund impact). Staff also identified improvements at Florence and Garfield (roughly $500,000) described as about 90% grant funded and 10% city-funded.
The clerk called the roll and the council approved items 10.1–10.15 by unanimous vote. The city manager invited residents to visit the newly opened Dreamers Aquatic Center and listed upcoming community events and program dates.
What happens next: awarded contracts will proceed to the construction and implementation phases as scheduled; staff will return to council if further budget or scope approvals are needed.
