Among individual actions, the commission approved beverage case B-26-0003, a retail beer and retail table wine off-premise license for a McCullough Country Cooking site near Midwest Hospital; the item received no public opposition at the hearing and was approved by voice vote.
Commissioners discussed item 14, a $5,000 grant to support Brilliant Kids' summer STEM program. Staff clarified the program is run by a nonprofit and is hosted at Metropolitan C.M.E. Church; it is open to students from across Jefferson County and is not an in-school program. The commission approved item 14 while noting the program is held at a church facility, not at a public school.
On item 58, the commission approved the requested amount and one commissioner moved to add $5,000, amending the amount to $25,000 for that district's allocation. Commissioners approved the amendment and the amended item.
The commission also approved the March 19, 2026 minutes and heard a brief presentation from United Ability, whose CEO Susan Sellers presented thank-you gifts from adult day program participants.
