The Marion County Commissioners Court adopted a resolution July 31 honoring Don Buckingham, commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, and proclaimed him an honorary citizen of Marion County.
A commissioner read the resolution praising Buckingham for leadership on land stewardship, veterans programs, historic preservation and disaster recovery work that benefits rural counties. The motion to adopt the resolution was made by Judge Lur and seconded by Commissioner J.R. Ashley; the court carried the motion.
Don Buckingham addressed the court briefly and thanked members for the recognition. The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn by Commissioner Ashley, seconded by Commissioner Jerry Lee, which the court approved.
