The Macomb City Council voted to approve submission of an application to the Pell Screen Foundation to fund replacement of 22 exterior windows at the Macomb Police Department facility.
Jess, speaking for the Pell Screen Foundation, told the council the application would remain open-ended to allow for partial funding or product-only support and asked for replacement of "the 22 severely deteriorated exterior windows" at the facility, which staff said is more than 30 years old and houses the Macomb Police Department, the county sheriff's office, the 911 dispatch center and evidence storage. Jess identified two cost estimates: approximately $73,533 for vinyl windows installed and approximately $88,334 for fiberglass windows installed. City staff said the police department has allocated $30,000 from its existing budget toward the project if partial funding is awarded.
A motion to approve submission of the application was moved, seconded and adopted by roll call; the presiding officer declared the motion carried.
