The Victoria City Council convened its first organizational meeting of 2026 at 6:30 p.m. and adopted the consent agenda after a brief set of routine announcements.
The mayor opened the meeting and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Council members were reminded that city meetings are open to the public and were directed to contact the city clerk in advance to register to speak. The city announced that offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and encouraged residents to attend "Donuts in Victoria," a free monthly series held the third Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Victoria Recreation Center.
Council Member Vansky moved to adopt the Jan. 12, 2026 consent agenda; the motion was seconded and carried on an oral vote. No council member requested that any consent item be pulled for separate consideration.
City Attorney VS told the council the city attorney’s office had no Victoria-specific legal issues to raise at this meeting, while noting the office has been busy with inquiries elsewhere. Staff likewise reported no items. With no regular agenda items, the council adjourned and reconvened for the Victoria Economic Development Authority annual meeting.
The council’s actions at this session were procedural and routine: adopting the meeting agenda and the consent agenda, making public notifications about schedules and programming, and receiving a short attorney report. No ordinances, resolutions, contracts, or budget items were debated or decided.
The next items on the evening’s schedule were handled by the Victoria Economic Development Authority.
