Staff proposed four possible directions: removing the specialty grocery use, reducing the size allowance for retail/restaurant/service uses (the current amendment would cap individual retail/restaurant uses at 10,000 sq ft by right and 20,000 conditional), reducing allowed locations for retail/service uses, and the possibility of removing residential allowances entirely.
Council members focused on traffic analysis and how the changes would align with employer needs for amenities. Staff said initial trip-generation estimates are underway and that a fuller traffic analysis could be provided before the decision; the public hearing is scheduled for next week.
