Board approves downtown event permits including expanded Strawberries on the Square

The Franklin Board of Public Works and Safety on April 6 approved a set of street and parking closures and vendor arrangements for Discover Downtown Franklin’s 2026 events calendar.
Danny Cosy, representing Discover Downtown Franklin, described a lineup that mirrors last year’s schedule but includes one meaningful change: an expansion of Strawberries on the Square with a small closure of Monroe Street and a new JCPL family‑fun zone in partnership with the library. "We're already sold out on vendor spaces for that. So, 180 vendor spaces sold out," Cosy said, noting the spring vintage festival is on April 25 and the farmers market will run 16 weeks starting May 30.
Cosy said organizers coordinated with police, fire, parks and streets departments, and that businesses affected by closures were consulted. For the amphitheater events, Cosy said organizers had signed a national recording artist for Hops and Vines and will use the trailer stage and food vendors as in prior years.
Board members asked staff to notify specific businesses about closure dates and affirmed support for keeping some parking available during parades. The board approved the street and parking closures, vendor‑space allocations and parade route by voice vote.
The approvals include routine administrative conditions such as coordination with the street and parks departments and keeping accessible parking open for adjacent businesses. Organizers will continue to work with staff on logistics and post‑event cleanup.
