The Adrian City Planning Commission on April 7 tabled consideration of a certificate-of-appropriateness for 530–532 Dennis Street after the applicant and contractor were not present to answer questions.
Staff described work that would be performed by a community action agency, including lead abatement, wrapping the fascia with aluminum trim coil, covering soffits with vinyl and replacing five wood windows with vinyl in the existing openings. Commissioners said photographs and product specifications are needed to verify whether replacements would be full-frame window replacements or installations into existing openings and whether the new materials would match the house's existing altered condition.
Commissioners noted the house appears to have been remodeled before the historic district designation and that much of the exterior already differs from original fabric. Still, several members said they could not approve changes without clearer drawings and manufacturer data and that it is standard practice to have an applicant or their representative present for such a review.
The commission voted to table the item to the next regularly scheduled meeting and directed staff to contact the applicant and request facade-marked photos, window manufacturer details and any drawings that demonstrate the openings and installation method. The applicant’s contractor was identified in the meeting as the Community Action Agency; whether that agency is funding the work was not specified.
