Campbell approves $1.7 million John D. Morgan Park restroom and parking upgrades

The Campbell City Council approved plans and authorized solicitation of bids on Sept. 2 for a pre-fabricated restroom and associated accessibility and parking improvements at John D. Morgan Park.
Parks staff explained the project will add a separate accessible family restroom, baby diaper changing stations, fold-down adult assistance seats, a pet drinking fountain and a custodial closet. The surrounding pathways will be upgraded for ADA compliance and the parking lot will be reconfigured to increase stalls from 68 to 79 and double accessible stalls from 3 to 6.
The presenter said the prefabricated building has a long fabrication lead time, so the city plans to award the contract in October and issue a notice to proceed after the contractor begins fabrication; site work would follow when fabrication nears delivery. The presenter provided a project cost estimate of $1.4 million plus a 10% contingency for a total project budget of $1.7 million.
Council members praised the in-house design work and support for park accessibility. Council moved, seconded and approved the staff recommendations by roll call; voting yes were Council Member Vivey, Council Member Hines, Council Member Skazola, Vice Mayor Ferado and Mayor Lopez.
