Murray County Board recognizes students nominated to Georgia Governor's Honors Program

Dr. Lock recognized district nominees and semi-finalists for the Georgia Governor's Honors Program, a four-week residential summer enrichment program for gifted rising juniors and seniors hosted at Georgia Southern.
Dr. Lock said Murray County submitted 26 district nominees this year and that the district produced a record eight state semi-finalists. She read the list of students from Murray County High and North Murray, covering fields including agriculture, communicative arts, music (brass, woodwind, flute, piano), theater, visual arts, science (biology, physics), math and engineering. She thanked school-level staff, interview panel volunteers and parents for their support and asked the semi-finalists to pose for photos with a new district banner.
Dr. Lock noted semi-finalists will be notified by email on March 20 and will decide whether to accept the state finalist invitation based on summer scheduling. The board applauded the students and interview volunteers.
