Depending on the total state payment, the district’s remaining obligation could be roughly $350,000 to $450,000; staff said the district expects to absorb that cost within current revenue and expenditure projections without upending the balanced-budget target for the year.
The report noted the district will include some ESS paraprofessionals and certain contracted positions (for example, school nurses and therapy contractors) in bonus calculations and that the packet contains language about prorating payments for employees who have not worked the full school year. Staff said such prorations affect only a small number of employees.
Board members asked procedural questions about timing, funding source and whether the state share would reduce the local obligation; staff reiterated that the larger the state payment, the less the district must contribute. The presentation also noted the state’s payment will appear in the QBE revenue line and that district leaders will reconcile final numbers once guidance from the state is received.
