Tourism board approves $1,000 for July 4, 2026 celebration and OKs travel reimbursement

The board also announced hiring a new part-time employee, Debbie Graves, who formerly worked for the chamber and will help manage Facebook and other digital promotion; Graves will work weekends and one weekday so the office has coverage five days a week. The board reported the tourism building remains in demand and that storage and trash-bin-lock changes have improved operations.
On the building contract, members said the long-running lease/contract is condensed and awaiting lawyer review; the board noted rent was raised for events (the speaker cited roughly a $200 increase for some bookings but did not provide an exact figure). Board members discussed social-media work and related costs: the town's Facebook page was recently unlocked after a long lockout, and the contractor and new staff will increase posting frequency and produce fresh content and B-roll for promotion.
The board asked Francine, who requested advertising help for a recurring motocross event, to return in April with more details because the board's one-year support policy applies to new events. Members also discussed recruiting social-media influencers to promote local lodging and restaurants and considered a future agenda item on installing pole-to-pole Christmas lights along Main Street; an engineer review and budget discussion were suggested before any commitment.
