Council advances routine items: appointments, Little League lease and interim zoning coverage after retirement

On parks and recreation, the committee reviewed a routine resolution authorizing an agreement with the Wingsport Area Little League to continue use of Brandon Park’s baseball and softball fields. Mayor Slaughter noted prior ARPA funds were used to upgrade the fields; council members confirmed maintenance is generally the league’s responsibility and said recent flooding issues had been mitigated. One council member said the league draws "almost 400" kids.
Following the retirement of longtime zoning enforcement officer Gary Nar in February, the committee considered a resolution authorizing an interim agreement with consultant Barry Iset (and associated firm support) to perform zoning and code duties until a permanent hire is made. Administration said Phil will serve as the main zoning officer in hearings and permit reviews. Council members urged a longer-term plan for the codes department; the administration said Councilman Pizzy and the solicitor are working on next steps and that matters have been filed with the state labor relations board as part of that review.
