The Monroe County Election Board voted to relocate polling places for East Strasburg—s first and second wards after being told Coler Fieldhouse is undergoing renovations.
The board approved the change during a regular meeting, moving the primary polling location to the Scitec building. "It's right next to there is parking there, too," a board member said while discussing the site—s suitability. Election staff said voter notices are being prepared and staff have started stuffing and mailing them to affected voters.
Board members said the Scitec site will work for the primary but that a separate decision will be needed to finalize polling places for the November election. "We will have to relocate for November; I'll be discussing that with them after the primary," the chair said.
The board directed staff to post signs at Coler to notify voters and to coordinate with the temporary site on accessibility and parking. Members also discussed the community—s interest in keeping a nearby church building in community use after its closure and said they were working with the local fire company to identify options for future elections.
The motion to approve the relocation was moved, seconded and carried; vote tallies were not specified in the record. The board said it will revisit and confirm permanent arrangements for November and continue outreach to affected voters.
