Several public commenters, including Karen Klene and Paul Lindsley, criticized the sales. Klene said signs on Wallace Boulevard did not indicate public availability and questioned whether deals were arranged "behind the scenes," while Lindsley urged the city to pursue government funding and leadership‑driven housing strategies rather than simply selling lots to builders. "Solving the problem is where I started: city leadership getting involved with government funding and government projects," he said.
Council members moved and approved the purchase agreements by roll call; recorded votes matched the roll calls shown in the meeting minutes. Council did not alter sale prices at the meeting.
Next steps: staff will finalize the sales agreements and proceed to closing per contract terms. The council and public asked staff to ensure transparency around future RFPs and lot availability.
