Parks update: maintenance building progresses; resident requests flagpole for cemetery

The parks superintendent told the Mooresville Town Council on March 3 that work on a new maintenance building is proceeding, shade structures for pickleball courts are ready to begin construction, and pool repairs have reached the invoicing stage with final concrete pours pending.
Council discussed adjustments to pickleball lighting to reduce light spill and noted summer program registration is open with more than 50 shelter rentals already booked. The superintendent said park hours and gate locations may be adjusted to keep sections visible from the roadway, and staff are evaluating adding cameras in a developing area.
During public comment, resident Terry Moore asked the council to purchase a 25-foot aluminum flagpole for the old Mooresville Cemetery and supplied a vendor quote for $1,250 installed. The council thanked Moore for placing flags at veterans’ graves and asked him to provide vendor contact information; staff will obtain additional quotes and review funding options before returning to the council.
No procurement decision was made at the meeting; council members expressed gratitude for Moore’s volunteer work and committed to seeking multiple quotes and identifying possible funding sources.
