The Mooresville Town Council authorized exterior improvements at town hall on March 3, approving replacement of two worn awnings and asking staff to obtain final graphics and placement details for building signage.
Staff presented two quotes from Sign Solutions: an option with town graphics and an option without. The differences cited were graphic application and a longer (eight-year) vinyl warranty on one package. Council discussed also adding steel lettering on the brick face reading "Mooresville Government Center" but agreed the metal lettering could wait until carpet and other interior priorities were addressed.
The clerk/staff noted fund 3352 (building maintenance) showed an available balance that could cover the awning work; members discussed prioritizing interior needs such as carpet and paint at other town-owned buildings while proceeding with the exterior awnings because of weather protection and visibility. A motion to proceed with the awnings and associated sign work was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
Council asked staff to obtain final color samples and confirm whether adding the "Mooresville Government Center" metal letters would change the price. No final direction on the metal lettering was given at the meeting; staff will return with any additional quote information and color proofs.
