Lance reported safety and security work including door repairs at Burns High School, boiler and hot-water maintenance at multiple sites, a newly awarded playground grant at Carpenter, planned floor work proposals at Burns and Pondos high schools, and a groundskeeper vacancy. He said sprinklers are scheduled to be activated in mid‑April depending on weather. Lance also noted that bus driver Roger assisted a stranded team during a regional tournament by transporting students to lodging.
On the legislative front staff told the board the governor’s deadline for vetoes had passed and that the recalibration bill was allowed to become law without gubernatorial signature; the district will monitor forthcoming Department of Education guidance and potential emergency rules and will coordinate with the district attorney about any necessary policy changes.
The board discussed scheduling a joint meeting with Laramie County School District #2 for June 17 and a suggested campus visit; members were asked to confirm attendance by the next board meeting. Board members also arranged to split the superintendent evaluation into shorter sessions and tentatively scheduled an executive-session evaluation for Wednesday the 25th at 6 p.m. at the central office to be advertised accordingly. Upcoming travel to the COSBA conference beginning on the 12th was noted, and future meeting dates (central office COW April 8, board meeting at Bird’s High on April 13) were announced.
