Renee, speaking to the court, said the Bailey Ranch project is in its final stages with required improvements due by May 2027 and needs the county's full attention. She said the airport kayak improvements remain "on the table" and that road and bridge crews had already completed some work at the launch site that reduced the need for grant-funded activity. "Keep in mind that the airport kayak improvements we have not taken off the table. We will come back at a later date," Renee said.
The motion to deobligate the $80,000 and authorize the county judge to execute closeout documents was seconded and carried. The court also noted that Road & Bridge assisted with cattail removal at Linda Castro and that some low-cost adjustments have been made without using grant funds.
The court's action authorizes the county judge to execute the necessary deobligation and closeout paperwork; staff said they will return to the court with the airport project if and when further work requiring the grant funding is planned.
