Council approves three appointments to lodging tax advisory committee (ELTAC)

Battle Ground City Council on March 2 unanimously approved three appointments to the lodging tax advisory committee (ELTAC). Mayor Eric Overberholzer nominated Jessica Cole for Tourism Generator position 1, John Enzinga for Tourism Generator position 2 and reappointed Trent Narcos to the tax‑collector role; council moved and seconded each appointment and voted "I" without opposition.
Jessica Cole spoke after being sworn in and criticized a prior postponement in January that she said discouraged volunteers and required extra staff time when an application window reopened. She thanked city staff members Alicia Smith, Megan Lowry and Chris Swanson for encouraging her to apply, and praised City Finance Director Megan Lowry for the finance department’s recent certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting. Cole said the postponement "was frustrating and disheartening for many in the community, myself included," and urged council to consider how such actions affect civic participation.
Both John Enzinga and Trent Narcos thanked the council for the appointments; Ryan Heasley was reappointed to Planning Commission position 1 but was not present.
The appointments were made by mayoral nomination with council approval; no further action was taken during the meeting.
