The Cottonwood Heights City Council on March 3 approved Resolution 2026-17, authorizing an agreement with the State of Utah concerning use of the America 250 name, logo and identity to mark the upcoming semiquincentennial.
The chair recognized staff for bringing the matter forward and described 2026 as an appropriate year to celebrate the semiquincentennial. A council member moved to pass the resolution, another seconded, and the council voted with each called member answering “yes.”
The chair said, “it’s a great year to celebrate the semiquincentennial,” and thanked Barbara Higgins and staff for their work on the item. No public testimony was offered during the business meeting.
The resolution specifies council authorization to use the America 250 brand under terms the city will finalize with state staff; the business-meeting record does not include the text of the final agreement or details on any fees or usage restrictions.
