The Suamico Village Board adopted Resolution 260004 honoring firefighter Jerry Vandenplas for 26 years of service to the Suamico Fire Department, effective Feb. 28, 2026. President Venrazam and department members presented a plaque and badge and offered remarks recognizing Vandenplas’s longtime service and mentorship.
Trustee Stevens moved approval of the retirement resolution; Trustee Andrews seconded and the board approved the resolution by roll call, 6‑0.
On routine business, the board approved the consent agenda (minutes from Feb. 16, 2026, and the January 2026 fire report). The board also approved a two‑year animal shelter services agreement with the Wisconsin Humane Society. Administrator Kaker said the proposed 2026 annual payment is $1,250 with a 3% annual increase and two optional one‑year renewals; the village paid about $996 in 2025 under the 2020 agreement. Staff reported the Humane Society is the only viable local provider for the needed services. Trustee Anders moved approval and Trustee Neto seconded; the motion passed 6‑0.
