Bettendorf City Council on March 3 approved a resolution adopting plan specifications and the form of contract for a public works fire suppression systems project after a brief public hearing.
The resolution was introduced by Council member Brown, who moved approval of the plan specifications and contract form. The motion was seconded and, following roll call, passed unanimously.
The action came after Chief Said gave a short staff update during the public hearing, noting the procurement timeline. "No, the only thing I would say is that uh bid ends March 31st. So, we're hoping to bring that contract back to you on April 7th for awarding that contract and we'll see where we end up at that time," Chief Said said.
Michelle Spencer confirmed the city had published notice of the public hearing and provided an affidavit of publication; she said the city had received no written correspondence on the item. The council opened the public hearing and, as no one approached the podium, closed it without public comment.
On the roll call for the resolution, council members recorded affirmative votes. The chair announced the motion passed unanimously.
Next steps: staff will accept bids through March 31 and plans to return to the council with a contract award recommendation on April 7.
