Boyer said the LED fixtures could be mounted under the building's stone ledges to remain visually subtle by day while offering programmable color options for holidays, veterans observances and community events. He said in-house staff could handle work on the annex to reduce cost but recommended contracting professional installers for the historic stone side because of the need for lifts and specialized mounting to protect the masonry.
Boyer provided a preliminary materials figure for one side of the building of about $4,000 and said full install pricing would require contractor quotes and a review by the county architect. Commissioners stressed the need to protect historic stonework and asked staff to collect formal bids and bring back a priced proposal with contractor options and scope-of-work details.
No formal action was taken; commissioners endorsed pursuing concrete estimates and a professional approach for the sensitive historic façade before committing funds.
Booker Boyer also offered to consult local paint and restoration vendors to identify compatible cleaning or finishing options for discolored stone and planned to report back with firm estimates.
