Superintendent Dr. Atia Perkins delivered the district report, recognizing students and staff and presenting district data and personnel news.
The board recognized multiple student-athlete achievements: swimmers Marley McDonald and Arnes Malunis qualified for the N.J. meet of champions; Anya Garbowska was named a state representative for National Girls and Women in Sports Day; and Braden Del Brun and Gabe Morales qualified for the state track and field championships. The district also received an NJSIAA Sportsmanship Award for the 2024–25 school year and will display a commemorative banner in the high school gymnasium.
Dr. Perkins announced five retirements effective July 1, 2026: Robin Bournead (part‑time aide), Tracy Cabalo (teacher, 34 years), Katherine Paulino (special education teacher), Lisa Gonzalez (elementary teacher), and Patricia Donigan (special education teacher, 42 years). The superintendent offered condolences on the passing of paraprofessional Phyllis Krauss (died Feb. 24).
District enrollment was reported as 6,482 students (no net change from the same day last year), and chronic absenteeism improved from 25% to 24% year over year. The superintendent also noted staff attendance figures and a uniform compliance rate of 41% districtwide, with School 5 reported at 100% compliance. The agenda contained a requested amendment to the 2025–26 calendar to correct the order for snow‑day makeups (to read April 10 followed by April 9); the correction will be shared after board approval.
