Marshall County Fiscal Court voted March 3 to approve and sign a state contract for stabilization work on Bryant Road, a project expected to be funded in part by FEMA.
Court discussion identified the contractor as a geostabilization firm under a state-approved contract. Roy (county representative) told the court the contractor expects to spend about four to six weeks stabilizing the bank before county road crews add gravel, paving and any needed guardrail. “Once they begin the stabilization of the bank, they projected it could take four to six weeks,” Roy said.
Officials said the county had been notified that a FEMA deposit for the project would arrive soon, and that the road department would perform finishing work. The court approved the motion to accept and sign the contract by voice vote.
Members discussed timing: officials estimated contractor work could start as soon as late March or in April depending on weather and the contractor’s busy schedule. County staff said some local costs (finish gravel and paving) would be covered by county crews while primary project funds would be FEMA-related.
The court expressed optimism about completing the project and moving traffic improvements forward; staff will provide schedules and contract documents to the fiscal court as the project advances.
