Weld County authorizes temporary closures of County Roads 59 and 13 for milling and paving

The Weld County Board of Commissioners on March 9 approved temporary full closures for two county roads to allow milling and paving work.

Amy Muty of Public Works asked the board to close County Road 59 between County Roads 74 and 78 from March 23 through May 8 for a full mill and paving project. Muty said the road currently has a recycled‑asphalt surface and that the work will include milling, blading and paving; detour routes within the closure are paved and will be dust‑treated, and variable message boards will be placed in advance and during construction. Commissioner Ross moved to approve the closure; Commissioner Buck seconded the motion, which was recorded as carried unanimously.

Public Works also requested closure of County Road 13 beginning March 23 through June 9 for a full paving project that includes milling and work at a railroad grade to smooth the transition. Muty said the detour routes for this closure are paved and will have variable message boards posted. Commissioner Maxi moved and Commissioner Buck seconded approval; the motion carried unanimously.
