The Pontiac City Council approved its consent agenda, authorizing multiple routine and capital items brought by staff.
Council approved merchant licenses discussed during the consent review and then voted to accept two surveys for Water Street — a right-of-way and a topographical survey — with staff saying the combined cost was $45,900 to position the project for future Federal Aid Urban (FAU) funding. The council also approved a $10,400 topographical survey to address storm-sewer work in the Ali subdivision, which staff said had been budgeted in capital funds.
On a separate procurement, council awarded a roof-replacement contract for the Shiakha Park Pavilion/Vermillion Players Building to Pope Joy Roofing for $66,839 after reviewing three bids and disqualifying one bid that did not meet the color specification. Councilmembers discussed historic-color preservation and product warranties before approving the award.
Council also approved acquisition of a Toro mower (staff recommended the M&H Toro option) and authorized placing a salt order of 350 tons for next winter under the city’s purchasing plan. Roll-call votes recorded members voting in the affirmative for each motion.
Staff indicated federal funds will be used for the larger Water Street reconstruction in future years and that some capital line items will cover the immediate survey work.
