The Town of Braintree council unanimously reappointed Susan M. Samino as clerk of the council at its March 3 meeting.
Counselor Flareity, chair of the personnel committee, reported that the committee met on Feb. 18 and delivered a unanimous favorable recommendation to the full council. "I could not be more certain or more grateful... that this is the right move," Flareity said in support of the reappointment.
Multiple councilors then praised Samino’s work in organizing council business, managing documents, and serving as a consistent administrative presence. "Without the clerk of the council and you in particular, Clerk Samino, we could not do the jobs we do to provide local government services day in and day out," one councilor said. Another noted the clerk’s institutional knowledge and steady hand during transitions.
The council moved and seconded the reappointment under the town charter; the motion states the reappointment is "pursuant to section 28 of the charter of the Town of Braintree" and sets the effective date as July 21, 2026. The vote was unanimous.
Councilors said they look forward to continued service from Samino for the next three-year term. The reappointment was procedural and did not include additional compensation or job-description changes at the meeting.
