Ron explained that the project was competitively bid with four returns; the low bidder was not compatible with the district’s specified hardware, so Connecticut Computer Services was awarded the work at $79,553. “It is fully configured, ready to go,” Ron said, and staff noted the procurement is included in the budget with an expected federal reimbursement of roughly 50 percent under an applicable federal program.
Board members asked process questions: how many switches (seven to eight), whether licensing and implementation were included (yes), and typical replacement cycle (vendors stop security support after a product’s end of life; hardware requires replacement on a multi‑year cycle). The award was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote; staff said replacement will be scheduled to avoid disrupting instruction and that purchases are contingent on final budget passage.
