Montgomery County Commission approves routine business, appointments and appropriations; renames criminal intelligence center

The Montgomery County Commission on Monday approved routine business and a series of appointments and appropriations, and unanimously adopted a resolution renaming the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Intelligence Center for Sheriff Derek Cunningham.
The commission approved the minutes of the Feb. 17, 2026 meeting, accounts payable and payroll checks, and moved forward an AARP Community Challenge capacity-building microgrant application for the 2026 cycle. It also voted to renew the county’s external audit services agreement with Rivertree Systems and certified local government approval in support of Friendship Mission.
The commission adopted a resolution to designate the Sheriff Derek Cunningham Criminal Intelligence Center as the official name of the county’s Criminal Intelligence Center.
Other actions taken included approval of county levies for alcohol licensing for 2026–2027; appointments of Orlando Cannon to the Montgomery County Appeals and Grievances Board and Sed Campbell to the Montgomery County Community Cooperative District Board; and travel and training requests for the appraisal commission and grants department.
Commissioners approved a package of miscellaneous appropriations and designated revenue allocations. On the record, commissioners identified donations and allocations that included, among others, $5,000 and $10,000 line items directed to community organizations and the Sheriff’s Foundation; the meeting record contained corrections and clarifications to several of the listed amounts before final approval.
A letter of intent and purchase-and-sale agreement for property at 6261 Atlanta Highway was approved by motion. Consideration of an amendment to the ARPA-funded Montgomery Thrive Small Business Program was postponed to the next agenda.
All motions cited in the meeting were carried by voice vote, with the commission responding "I" to indicate approval. No roll-call tallies naming individual votes were recorded in the published meeting transcript.
