Navajo County health survey seeks resident input; county staff ask towns to help boost participation

Sierra Hensley, deputy health director for Navajo County Public Health Services District, presented the county’s Community Health Needs Assessment survey and invited town support in outreach. Hensley said the triannual survey — available online and on paper — takes about 10–15 minutes and is open through April 30 for county residents age 18 and over.
Hensley described how the county uses survey data, secondary data and qualitative input to develop a community health improvement plan and to guide funding and partnership decisions. She said priorities identified in the previous assessment included sexually transmitted infections, social determinants of health, chronic disease, mental health and substance use. Hensley highlighted local partners assisting outreach, including Summit Healthcare, Little Colorado Medical Center and Changepoint, and announced a photo contest to feature community photography in the 2026 report.
The county requested that the council and local organizations promote participation; Pinetop Lakeside was fourth in a countywide 'race' of jurisdictions for survey responses at the time of the presentation. Hensley left printed flyers and contact information for staff liaison Sherry Fish for officials and residents who want to get involved.
