Council approves planning commission appointment, restores road maintenance and OKs container purchase
Summary
At its meeting the council appointed Robert Ran to the Planning & Zoning Commission, rescinded an earlier resolution and restored maintenance for about 7.85 miles of roads focused on safety, and approved the purchase of rolloff containers using grant funds; all three measures passed unanimously.
The Pinetop Lakeside Town Council approved several actions during the meeting.
Appointment: The council adopted Resolution 26-1802 to appoint Robert Ran to the Pinetop Lakeside Planning and Zoning Commission for a term expiring July 22, 2027. Interim community development director Frank Young presented the applicant; Councilor Smith moved the appointment and it passed unanimously.
Road maintenance: By adopting Resolution 26-1803, the council rescinded Resolution 25-1769 and restored town maintenance authority for roads historically maintained by the town. Presenter Christie said restoring maintenance was driven by safety and passability concerns; the town will add approximately 6.53 miles of unpaved roads and 1.32 miles of paved roads (7.85 miles total) back into service, and staff were directed to develop a revised maintenance plan focused on safety and revised eligibility criteria under Town Code §12.26.20. Councilor Heisler moved the resolution; the motion carried unanimously.
Rolloff containers: The council adopted Resolution 26-1804 to purchase rolloff containers from Box Gang Manufacturing under Sourcewell contract no. 010825-BXG for an amount not to exceed $56,527.15. Elena explained the purchase is covered by a Recycling Partnership grant (approximately $58,000 allocated for containers) and will be reimbursed to the town (90% initially, final 10% at grant close). Councilor Heisler moved the measure and it passed unanimously.
All three actions were recorded on the consent/regular agenda and carried without recorded opposition. The council adjourned following the votes.
