Burnsville — The Burnsville City Council voted March 3 to adopt the Planning Commission's 2026 work plan after Chair Karen Bradock presented a 2025 recap and key initiatives for the coming year, including a zoning code reorganization, a subdivision ordinance rewrite and the launch of a multi‑year 2050 comprehensive plan process.
Bradock told the council the commission handled 26 planning cases in 2025 that required 33 approvals and that the zoning code reorganization is nearing completion. She said the subdivision ordinance update will be an overhaul and that the 2050 comprehensive planning effort will begin in 2026, likely continue through 2028, with adoption targeted around 2029.
Council members thanked the commission for its work and the council moved, seconded and approved the planning commission work plan by voice vote. The item was adopted as a guidance document; no new ordinances or amendments were enacted at this meeting.
The planning commission indicated the comprehensive plan process will include public engagement and will be a multi‑year effort involving staff, commissioners and community stakeholders.
