Separately, Chad Pacy, who identified himself as president of Normal Firefighters Local 2442, thanked Town Manager Ree and staff for recent meetings with the department, described the conversations as “open, productive” and requested a dedicated work meeting between town leadership and fire chiefs to assess departmental needs and planning.
Councilmembers acknowledged the importance of public safety and economic development. Mrs. Loren also tied neighborhood schools to broader economic and planning goals, saying maintaining walkable schools supports Uptown Normal’s investments.
The council did not take a formal vote on EDC funding at this meeting; budget deliberations are scheduled ahead of the council’s upcoming budget vote.
