Mount Clemens hires Oakland University lab for strategic planning; commission stresses department-head involvement

"I'm recommending that we engage Oakland University's public affairs research laboratory to assist the city of Mount Clemens with strategic planning," Johnson said, describing remote tools such as SurveyMonkey and Zoom for public input. He said department heads would participate and that the result should be a working document the commission refers to regularly.
Commissioners recalled a prior plan that was not fully implemented and pressed for follow-through, periodic review and measurable objectives. One commissioner stressed the importance of department-head attendance because technical operations (for example, utilities and water treatment) require supervisors' input.
The motion to proceed with the Oakland University proposal was moved and approved by roll call. Staff will return with details on the scope and schedule for the engagement.
