The Monrovia Unified School District board approved a tentative agreement with the Monrovia Teachers Association (MTA) on salary terms.
District staff said the proposal and the union’s counterproposal were modeled against projected surplus over the next three years. "That projected amount that we have available — the offer that the labor union took to their membership — fits within what we projected as our surplus over the next three years," a staff presenter said. Trustees and staff thanked union representatives and district negotiators for reaching an agreement.
Board members noted the approval will affect the district’s ending fund balance projections for the coming three years; staff described the amount as a projection tied to available surplus and asked the board to consider implementation details in budgeting. Trustees voted to approve the tentative agreement and expressed appreciation for the collaborative process.
