County signs continuing planning services agreement and seeks county representative for local TIF/TED boards

Separately, commissioners discussed a new legislative requirement that county representation be appointed to local TIF (tax increment financing) and TED (targeted economic development) boards. The board said those bodies oversee downtown and airport area economic development projects and that, although the districts sit inside city jurisdiction, the state legislature now requires a county representative. The commission solicited applications from county residents and agreed to publicize the vacancy in the newspaper; the application deadline was set as August 29.
What happens next: The clerk will publish the TIF/TED vacancy and accept applications through Aug. 29. Pam Boszen's continuing services agreement will be filed with the county and she will begin supporting planning board work under the terms discussed.
