Chair Steve Cunningham called the Coffee County Planning Commission to order at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and recorded a full membership present: Steve Cunningham; Laura Vazquez, secretary; Laura Nettles; Anastasia Gonzales; Sammy Anderson; and Randy Harrell.
Commissioner Laura Nettles moved to approve the meeting agenda; Randy Harrell seconded and the motion passed unanimously, 6-0. Anastasia Gonzales then moved to approve the minutes from Feb. 24, 2026; Harrell seconded and that motion also passed, 6-0.
The commission’s published agenda included a public-comment period and a bond-review item; no public comments were recorded and no bond matters were presented.
Under new business, two land‑use items were deferred to the April meeting. The commission deferred a Major — Preliminary application for MG England Road (map 087, parcel 003.00) and a Minor Final Plat for Fountain Grove Road (map 046, parcels 011.09 and 011.10), listed with applicant Jonathan Skinner. The minutes record both items as deferred and do not show votes on the plats themselves.
Chair Cunningham addressed what the minutes describe as misunderstandings about a proposed 5‑acre minimum, the community’s urban growth boundary (UGB) and an associated moratorium. The record notes a discussion of those topics but does not show any formal action or vote to adopt changes; Mayor Hunt also spoke to the strategic growth plan committee during the same agenda item.
Commissioner Sammy Anderson moved to adjourn; Harrell seconded and the meeting adjourned at 4:17 p.m. The minutes were later signed by Secretary Laura Vazquez and approved on April 28, 2026.
Questions about the deferred plats and any related application materials will be addressed at the commission’s next regular meeting in April, per the minutes.
