Council approves budget calendar, MDD appointment, holiday change and 5% pay increase for city administrator

At its June 12 meeting the Shenandoah City Council approved several routine and personnel items.
Council approved the 2024–25 budget calendar, setting the budget workshop for the Aug. 14 regular council meeting and scheduling a joint capital projects discussion with the MDD on June 26. The vote followed a motion by Councilman Ray Maker, which was seconded and carried.
The council voted to adopt a resolution appointing Barry Millenson to the Shenandoah Municipal Development District board. Members offered unanimous support, citing his private‑sector experience and local involvement, and the appointment carried.
Council also approved a revision to the city holiday schedule (swapping the July 5 holiday with Veterans Day to accommodate the planned veterans monument ribbon cutting) and nominated Kathy Ryer to the Montgomery County Emergency Communications District board; both motions passed.
Following a closed executive session citing Section 551.074 (personnel matters), council reconvened and approved a 5% pay increase for the city administrator on a motion by Councilman Ray Maker and a second by Councilman Pard; the motion carried.
No additional action was reported from the executive session. The council adjourned at 8:24 p.m.
