Hamilton County proclaims National Preparedness Month; official urges signing up for Alert Hamilton County

The Hamilton County Board of Commissioners proclaimed September 2024 as National Preparedness Month at its Sept. 12 meeting and encouraged residents and businesses to prepare for disasters and hazards.
Commissioner Denise Driehaus read the proclamation, noting that preparedness “can reduce fatalities and economic devastation in our communities” and urging households and firms to make emergency plans. The proclamation specifically encouraged signing up for the county’s emergency notification system, Alert Hamilton County.
Nick Crossley, speaking for the county’s emergency management effort, described recent severe-weather events and continuity-planning work with 49 jurisdictions. “If you’re not getting a warning in Hamilton County you’re not trying,” Crossley said, urging seniors and other residents to register for Smart 911 or Alert Hamilton County and offering county assistance to register residents who have trouble signing up.
Commissioners thanked emergency-management staff and said the county will continue outreach to make alerts and preparedness resources widely available.
